about the oogiebear® booger removal tool
Why are the tips of the oogiebear firm?
Our patented curved tips are designed to mimic your fingernail. During extensive product safety testing, we achieved the ideal firmness for maximum effectiveness. The goal of the oogiebear is to be in and out quickly, with no digging. The firm tips are paired with a soft bear head to ensure the tool does not go too far into baby's nose
What is the oogiebear made of?
The oogiebear is mostly constructed of soft rubber that's grippy for parents and gentle for baby. The firm plastic tips were designed to better remove crusty boogers (the scoop end) and sticky ones (the loop end). A softer silicone might seem preferable, but focus group testing (we take our boogers very seriously!) confirmed that this was far less effective. The oogiebear is also latex, lead and phthalate free!
Why not use a cotton swab?
Cotton swabs might seem like a good choice for little noses, but they're really not. Sometimes they work, but they're not great at getting the dry or sticky stuff out - in fact, they often push boogers deeper into the nose, making them harder to reach and creating more discomfort for baby. Also, a cotton swab may start to unravel, leaving cotton fibers in baby's nose and further aggravating the situation.

This is what sets the oogiebear apart - it can be used without worrying about possibly hurting your baby. The firm tips allow for effective booger removal while the bear-head design prevents the tool from going too far into their nose.
Why not use an aspirator bulb?
Aspirator bulbs sometimes work for thin mucus, but they're not effective on the dry or sticky stuff. In fact, they often push boogers further into baby's nose, making them even harder to reach and creating more discomfort for your child. Saline mist can also be effective, but who wants to spray a wet mist inside a sleeping baby's nose in the middle of the night? If your baby is breathing easy and sleeping well…so are you!
How do you clean the oogiebear?
The oogiebear original booger picker is super easy to clean. Simply wash it with a mild soap under warm water, rinse it off and then let it air dry. We do not recommend putting the oogiebear in a dishwasher or microwave.
I can't reach the boogers in my baby's nose — what do I do?
For those hard-to-reach boogers, we suggest washing your little one's face with a warm washcloth prior to using the oogiebear, or trying the oogiebear directly after a warm bath. The warm moisture helps loosen those stubborn boogers and can make them more accessible. If you still can't reach them, though, don't worry — just try again in a few hours or tomorrow.
Will this work on ears? And what is the age limit for using it in both ears and nose?
Yes, the oogiebear works well with babies' ears. Its bear-head design is both fun and safe: it prevents the tool from going too far into baby's nose or ears. The oogiebear is especially effective after (or even during) a warm bath — the warm moisture will make tenacious boogers and ear wax easier to remove.

The recommended age for the oogiebear is 0 to 24 months.
Will this work for toddlers?
Yes, it will work on toddlers as long as they tolerate your using it on their nose and/or ears! We have lots of customers who use the oogiebear with their toddlers, and it works great. The recommended age of 0 to 24 months is simply based on its design for smaller noses.
Can adults use it too?
The oogiebear was designed for newborns and toddlers and may not be the right size to reach inside an adult's nose or ear. It may very well work, but it will likely vary from person to person.
Does this work for dry ear wax also?
Yes, the oogiebear is GREAT for babies' ears — its bear-head design is both fun and safe, preventing the tool from going too far into baby's ears or nose. The oogiebear is especially effective after (or even during) a warm bath — the warm moisture will make tenacious boogers and ear wax easier to remove.
Does this work for dry boogers?
oogiebear is the only infant nose cleaning product specifically designed to remove both dry and sticky boogers. It has two tips - a loop end for the sticky mucus and a scoop end for safely removing dried mucus. Other infant nose cleaners are designed to work well on wet mucus, but they're not effective on the dry or sticky stuff. When boogers make it hard to breathe, it's oogiebear to the rescue — one quick scoop, and you're out!
Would this work for removing, say, a pea?
The oogiebear is intended for the removal of mucus and ear wax only, and should never be used in any other way. It is not intended to remove foreign objects placed up a child's nose and should never be used in such a manner as it could push these further up the nostril and cause further harm. In such a situation, please contact a medical professional, and do not attempt to use the oogiebear to remove anything but boogers and ear wax!
