5 Indoor Baby Activities To Beat Winter Blues

Playing in the snow only lasts so long! When it’s chilly, snowy, or dark outside, here are five of our favorite activities to turn winter into a joyful bonding moment.

  1. Window watching: Find a cozy spot by the window to notice trees, wildlife, lights, passing cars, or changing weather. Take your time observing your surroundings, pointing out views that you didn't notice before, and discovering the world through your baby's eyes! This is a great activity to incorporate into a morning routine or midday break.

  2. Gentle movement: When you want to take a break from the brisk outdoor weather, you can still find ways to move indoors. For very little ones, tummy time stretches, guided rolling on a playmat, or simply slow dancing around the room to a calming song are great ways to enrich them without overstimulating the senses. For older toddlers, we love fort-building to stretch them creatively, or even kid-friendly guided movement videos to get the wiggles out!

  3. Stories and snuggles: Create a peaceful reading corner with winter themed books and cuddly, soft toys. This is a great way to transition your baby to naptime and slow down. Want to introduce a little extra calm? Incorporate a gentle swipe of Sleep Balm for a calming aroma, anti-inflammatory properties, and a melatonin boost.

  4. Introduce cozy light: Bye, overhead light! Hang twinkle lights on the walls or get some color-changing lightbulbs to soften the mood and calm the senses.

  5. Extend bathtime: Enjoy the health benefits from a little extra warm steam with a longer bathtime. Take your time moisturizing afterwards to protect delicate skin from cold, dry air. While nasal passages are warm from the humidity, use a light-up booger picker to gently clean out mucus and boogers

Save these tips for your next rainy or snowy day!
