6 Fun Classes For Restless Toddlers

Toddlers are little balls of energy. If you want to get any sleep, you have to help them expel that energy each day. If you’re looking for a little daytime entertainment, consider enrolling you and your child in one of these fun classes. If your gym doesn’t offer something like these, check with your local YMCA.

1. Music

Classes like Kindermusik give kids an opportunity to sing and dance to their heart’s content. Plus they learn about instruments, music, rhythm, listening, beats, and all types of interesting sounds. All music classes involve some music, but depending on the teacher you can find one with lots of activity and dancing.

2. Yoga

Yoga for toddlers? Yep! In fact, yoga for kids is becoming increasingly popular. Yoga is exercise, but relaxing at the same time. Yoga tends to teach good stretching habits, so if your child becomes athletic in the future, he or she will be safe from muscle injuries. Mommy and me yoga classes also incorporate stories and music to keep kids interested.

3. Tumbling

Jumping, balancing, rolling, climbing, crawling… Sounds like a typical day for a toddler, doesn’t it? Nearly every kid loves a good gymnastics class. Children can do all of the physically dangerous stuff they aren’t allowed to do in the house, but in a safe (padded) environment. If you have an athletic or especially rambunctious kid, this class will be a life-saver.

4. Story time

Weekly story time sessions are a lot of fun. You’ll find them at your public library. Let your child fall enthralled with the story on the rug with other kids while you take some time to yourself to read, work, or just browse Facebook. It’s also a great way to wind down your active toddler before nap time.

5. Swimming

Mommy and me swimming classes aren’t like formal lessons, but they give your child a chance to learn some swim fundamentals and expend some energy. The fear of swimming is learned, so even young babies enjoy time in the water. You can find swimming classes at your gym or YMCA.

6. Dance

Dance classes are typically designed for a particular type of dance, like ballet, tap, hip hop, etc. But a dance class designed for toddlers is usually far less formal. They give kids a chance to experience lots of different types of dance and learning to manipulate one’s body.

When her children were newborns, she ached to ease the discomfort from dry, stubborn, crusty mucus (boogers)! As a doctor, she knew there were no safe solutions on the market to help her kids, so she invented oogiebear, a revolutionary booger removal tool that helps babies breathe easier.

Nina graduated Howard University where she earned her doctorate in Pharmacy (R.Ph, Pharm.D). She is a Registered Pharmacist in Washington DC, Maryland and New York. Nina and her family are fitness enthusiasts who enjoy outdoor activities and healthy eating.
